Most of us have a fairly vague idea of Tibet and of what a Free Tibet would actually mean. I am no fan of the Chinese colonisation of Tibet, or of the current too typical crackdown there. However, consider the implications, from a Chinese point of view, of this map from “Tibet: The Facts” by Paul Ingram, Tibetan Young Buddhist Association, 1990. Historically, China has always jealously guarded its western borders.
